Dance New Jersey really takes its vision and mission seriously, and last weeks Show Up & Dance was a perfect example of it. Through one single day, over 30 different performances came together on one stage. This showcase brought all types of dance mediums together as a small snippet of this ever expanding community.

Ballet, tap, interpretive, cultural, hip hop, and contemporary were all showcased last Sunday at Montclair State University's Life Hall. Over the 3 different sessions, dancers of all skill, level, and ages showed off their moves on the same stage. The cheers from the audiences rivaled the music itself. Please do not ask me to pick a favorite piece, as that would be worse than asking me to pick a favorite child (if I had any). Tears flowed as easily as the cheers.

And to top it all off, the very last session gave us a glimpse at the talent of the Governor's Award winners. What is the Governor's Award you say? Well, it is an avenue to promote awareness and appreciation of the arts. And I see why these talented individuals won the award.
